Unlock a PDF (remove password)

If you have a PDF that asks for a password every time — and you know that password — you can remove it so the file opens freely. This requires the correct current password; it is not, and cannot be used as, a password-cracking tool.

How to use it

1. Open the Unlock PDF tool.
2. Drop in the protected PDF.
3. Enter its current password.
4. Download the unlocked copy.

Why remove a password you already know

Password prompts are useful in transit but tiresome once a file is somewhere safe. If you have downloaded a bank statement, an encrypted invoice or a protected report that you need to open repeatedly, typing the password every single time quickly becomes a chore — and it makes the file awkward to search, print or combine with others.

Removing the password from a document you legitimately control gives you a clean copy you can use freely, while you keep the original protected version if you ever need it.

What this tool is — and is not

This is a convenience tool for files you can already open. You must supply the correct current password; slimdocs then decrypts the document and saves an unprotected copy. It cannot guess, bypass or break a password, and it will not open a file you do not have the password for.

In other words, it removes a lock you already hold the key to — it is not a way to get into someone else's protected document. Only unlock files you own or are authorised to access.
